The City supports a workforce pilot program developed to fund non-profits operating programs for cohort-based, certificate-earning, career-pathways job training programs, with a goal of supporting a collaborative partnership among workforce systems that enables low-skilled, under-employed and/or unemployed Dallas residents to attain gainful employment and contribute fully to our economy. Each program has one or more employer partners.
To date, the city has funded four organizations offering workforce training opportunities for Dallas residents. The first two contracts were awarded to CitySquare and Serve West Dallas in 2017 to provide training in construction and healthcare respectively. A second round of contracts were awarded in 2019 to City Wide Community Development Corporation and Oak Cliff Works to provide training logistics and healthcare.
