The Cedars TIF is located south of downtown surrounded by the Farmers Market on the east, Dallas City Hall and the Convention Center to the north, and the Trinity River on the west. The District was created in 1992 to enhance the real estate market and encourage new investment by providing a source of funding for public amenities and infrastructure improvements in the neighborhood. Its mission is to capitalize on its proximity to downtown Dallas and major transportation arteries to attract new residential and commercial development along its mixed use corridors - Akard, Ervay, Corinth, Harwood, and Lamar Streets - to facilitate growth and increase its tax base.
