On May 2, 2021, City Council adopted recommendations to create a new economic development corporation to support and enhance the work of the City of Dallas Office of Economic Development. On January 12, 2022, City Council approved the creation of the City of Dallas Economic Development Corporation.
The purpose of the City of Dallas Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is to support business development and serve as a public developer within the City of Dallas. The EDC is overseen by a 15-member Board of Directors who will contribute to the new organization’s success by representing a diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, geographies, and areas of expertise with the highest level of integrity and dedication to Dallas.
The nomination period to recommend people for the initial EDC board of directors was open from March 11th through April 30th. A nominating committee reviewed nominees and presented a slate of Directors for approval to City Council on August 24. More information about the initial board of directors is available here.
